I love anything retro. I think it just looks so much cooler when you take old things and make them new again. I am not alone in this. After all, isn’t that what Instagram is all about? Well, recently I came across these awesome retro ads for modern social media. The company that created these ads, Moma Propaganda, is and ad agency based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The ads were created as part of the “Everything Ages Fast” ad campaign for Maximidia Seminars.Frankly, I don’t care why they were created! I just think that are one of the coolest ideas I have seen in a long time.
Facebook: I love the 60’s space-man vibe of this ad! The photograph on the desk and the streamlined computer are nice touches.
Twitter: The bird logo cracks me up! I also love the ‘portable’ device they show. I wonder what that was originally visualized as?
YouTube:This one has a 70’s feel to it. The man’s outfit and the combination computer/television make me chuckle. I love the huge camera attachment!
Skype: Okay, am I the only one that finds the man in the television on the bottom left of the ad really creepy? I love the jumbo headphones and push button controls. The statement “it is more than just a telephone” would make a great slogan for this ad!
You can tell that the ads were originally written in Portuguese and translated over to English, but the message still comes across and the images are great. I don’t know if they found the original ads or created them from scratch, but they look authentic to me. I love the old time images of what they thought the future would be like. Some are spot on and others are way off the mark, but these retro ads are still very cool.
